Get Off Your Ass: The Chadwick Challenge 2

The Beacon, Southern Maine Community College, South Portland, ME

1 hour ago by Ben Chadwick; Staff Writer/Arts Editor

When I came to SMCC I didn't know anyone, I was afraid of all my teachers and I viewed this school as a place that people just show up to and leave. Basically I was a typical SMCC freshman. Upon this road, of not knowing what this school had to offer (if anything) or how to feel like this was actually my school and not just a place that holds classes, I looked into the Beacon.

Well folks, it's all over. One more year of UNH athletics is in the books, and we here at TNH Sports had plenty to fill our pages with. Weather conditions on Apr. 21 proved to be ideal for distance running, and the result was one of the most memorable Boston Marathons in history. The pleasant weather brought out an immense and enthusiastic crowd that was treated to two special honors: seeing the closest women's finish in race history, and seeing Saint Anselm College Junior Nick Rich running the course donning just a "Speedo" swimsuit and a sweatband.

As I literally write the last thing for Saint Anselm College on my laptop I received just four short years ago, I can't help but think about my progression of time from when I lived in the basement of Dominic Hall to just a few hundred yards away in the Uppers of Bernard Court for my senior year.

Though I have been impressed by the efforts made by Campus Life to successfully match compatible first-years, and have heard very little about the ills of this process, the plethora of problems regarding the current housing system for students already on campus must be addressed.
